As an interior decorator in Cardiff, we undertake a lot of tiling work – both floor tiling and wall tiling. Tiles have very many benefits, not the least of which is that there is an almost endless amount of different patterns and colours from which you can choose. Instead of painting a wall with plain old magnolia which, granted, is cheap enough, you can let your imagination run riot with tiles.
If you decide to tile your bathroom floor – or kitchen floor for that matter – you can install underfloor heating so that when you get out of the shower or bath you won’t be stepping on to cold tiles. Underfloor heating is the very best method of heating in the modern home because it heats the room evenly. Unlike radiators, which produce a lot of heat which goes straight up to the ceiling, leaving some areas cooler than others, every part of a room with underfloor heating is warmed to the same temperature. It also uses less fuel to produce the heat.
Floor tiling is very, very easy to clean. A wipe over with a damp mop and that’s it. Furthermore, unlike carpet, it won’t stain if you spill anything on it – red wine for instance. Of course, one disadvantage is that if you drop something very heavy on a tile, such as a cast iron saucepan for example, you can crack it. This is why you should always keep a few spare tiles handy. But it is a simple enough matter to replace a tile even if you should damage it.
Tiles are also environmentally friendly. They are made from sand, clay, and glass, and many are made from recycled materials. Of course, they are also moisture resistant, so will not be affected by steam in the kitchen or bathroom. They also resist fire, rot, insects, odour, and fading, so they won’t be affected by sunlight.
Ceramic Tiling in Cardiff is a great boon to anyone who suffers from dust related allergen. They don’t harbour dust mites and dust, so the air in your home is made much healthier by reducing the amount of household allergens.
